What this tool is and why it exists
CarPaymentGuide.com is a free auto loan calculator that helps you estimate what a vehicle purchase might cost each month. Many online calculators only ask for vehicle price and interest rate. In the real world, a car deal involves trade-in value, sales tax, dealer fees, and a down payment, all of which affect the amount you actually finance and the payment you end up with.
This tool was built to give you a more complete picture before you visit a dealership or compare loan offers, so you can walk in with a realistic number in mind rather than a surprise.
How it works
The calculator uses standard amortization math to compute a monthly payment based on the principal (amount financed), interest rate, and loan term. Here is how the inputs combine:
- Vehicle price minus trade-in gives the taxable base.
- Sales tax and fees are added to the taxable base.
- Down payment is subtracted to arrive at the amount financed.
- The monthly payment is calculated from the financed amount, annual interest rate (converted to monthly), and loan term in months.
Everything happens in your browser. The numbers you enter are never sent to any server and are not stored or shared anywhere. Closing the tab clears all inputs.

We keep the calculator logic transparent and straightforward. Results are estimates intended for planning purposes. Actual loan terms, lender rates, and dealer pricing will vary, so always confirm final numbers with your lender or dealer.
We do not collect the values you enter into the calculator.
